Welcome to Pastrami Factory

Having The Best Pastrami Has Never Been So Easy

The etymology is from Romanian Pastrama, probably from the verb "a pastra" (to preserve, to keep). It is probable that this spelling be introduced to nouns related to the Italian salami. Another hypothesis asserts that it is a adaptation of Turkish pastirma, or basturma, which is a middle eastern dried meat, usually made beside veal.

Pastrami is not made from pork but beef and it became very popular in the delicatessens all over Europe and as people emigrated to the United States so it found it's way there. Today it's available almost anywhere and I dare say that the humble origins are all but forgotten.
